Allan Bevan's
Nou Goth Sonne Under Wode was awarded
the Outstanding Choral Composition
prize of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductor's
at their biennial conference in Sackville, N.B. on
May 17, 2008.
Allan
Bevan's To Morning, transcribed
for String Orchestra, from his choral work of the same
name was awarded the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin Member's
Prize in their Mozart 250 composer's competition. Of the
182 entries, 12 were selected for performance in Moscow
on January 27th, 2006. This concert was broadcast throughout
Russia on KULT-radio and on the internet. The work has
also been selected to be used in a Russian documentary
film to be released later this year. To Morning
was part of the program that Chamber Orchestra Kremlin
presented at Carnegie Hall on October 28th, 2006. To
Morning will be published by Ludwig Music of Cleveland,
Ohio in the summer of 2007. (see below for further information)

You may view and purchase Allan's unpublished works that
are available through the centre Canadian
Music Centre.
1) The Garden,
for SSAA voices, flute, and piano received
its world premiere May 19th, 2006 at the University of Victoria
as part of Chor Podium 2006. It was commissioned
by The Association of Canadian Choral Conductor's for the
treble voices of the National Youth Choir of Canada, directed
by Richard Sparks. The entire concert
was broadcast on CBC Radio Two Choral Concert on
July 2, 2006.
2)
The Morning Watch, (2008) for
double SATB chorus and piano on a text by Henry Henry Vaughan.
This work won a prize in the New Works for Large Choirs
Competition sponsored by the Vancouver Bach Choir, Bruce
Pullan, conductor at a concert in Vancouver, May 31, 2008.
3)
Fairest Lord Jesus (arr.) A stirring
setting of Crusader's Hymn for brass octet, organ,
timpani, percussion, mixed chorus, and optional audience/congregation.
This arrangement was commissioned by the CBC for the 2001
Easter Sunrise Celebration and was simulcast from Edmonton's
City Hall on CBC TV and Radio Two, April 15, 2001. A new
arrangement of this for brass quintet commissioned by the
CBC for the 2007 Easter Sunrise Celebration is now available
through the Canadian Music Centre.
4)
A Child's Evening Prayer, (2008)
for SATB chorus, violin, and piano was commissioned by the
Calgary Boy's Choir for their 35th Anniversary concert on
May 10, 2008.
