Parlez-Moi (arr.)

One of the great things about being a composer is the opportunity to arrange other musicians' music. Through the good offices of my friend Dr. Laurier Fagnan at the University of Alberta, I have had the opportunity to arrange many of France Levasseur-Ouimet's songs for his Chorale Saint-Jean. Dr. France Levasseur-Ouimet is an emeritus professor of History at the University of Alberta, and a gifted songwriter/lryicist. In the fall of 2010, Dr. Levasseur-Ouimet and I collaborated on a song she composed entitled Parlez-Moi. (I arranged her melody for treble voices and piano). Dr. Fagnan was kind enough to arrange a collaboration between ourselves and Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc of Lyon, France. This ensemble came to international attention as the choir that provided the soundtrack for the lovely French film Les Choristes. This video from January 2011, shows the choir singing Parlez-Moi in the chapel of the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon.
